Absence makes the heart grow fonder

Or was that absinthe?

Or maybe you just forgot about me.

I was shocked to notice that I hadn’t updated easternblot.net in an entire month. And to be honest, it was actually longer than that: the last few posts had been “preblogged” while I was traveling. I spent a month in Australia, then a week and a half back in Toronto, and finally a week in London, where I attended Science Online.

While I was in London, I visited the Wellcome Collection, which is fabulous and probably deserves a blog post of its own. They have a bookstore there, and in that bookstore is an entire section devoted to Art & Science. I picked up a book with the same name, and will be reading that once I finish some other books.

In Australia I didn’t do much science-wise, but I did visit a school, and I learned a bit about the geology of Ayers Rock and the Whitsundays, which probably also deserve their own blog posts.

I’m felling a bit travel-weary, but just today I booked yet another flight: later this month I’ll be in New York City to talk about blogging at Columbia University.

So that’s what’s been going on. No excuses not to update the blog, of course, and now that it’s September I can no longer pretend to be “on vacation” either, so I’ll get back to that immediately!
