Etsy Wednesday: Frog dissection

I took Biology in grades 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12, but never dissected a frog or cow eyeball. The school didn’t think it was necessary for our education to cut in dead animals, and I agree. Never in my life have I ever thought “Oh, if only we had done the frog lab in school!”
Since I’ve never seen a frog being cut open I can’t say how realistic this is, but it looks pretty cool. CraftyHedgehog makes these knitted frogs, and also sells patterns to try it yourself.

  • Whereas I refused to participate in the dissections at high school (we did a rat instead of a frog plus all the eyeballs and stuff) and it never stopped my career as a mammalian physiologist. So it really isn’t necessary, even if you go into that specific field.

Good thing I stopped being so squeamish though.
